MGCCA board meets to discuss concert series, radio station
The MGCCA board of directors met Mar. 3, 2016, to discuss the future of the concert series, which has been mostly on hiatus for the past two years. Following a concert appearance by Leslie Lee and Steve Gretz on Jan. 31, board members received a good deal of positive feedback and interest in resuming an annual series. Several board members will be working toward that in the coming months.
The board also talked about MGCCA's radio station, WMTG, and a recent transmitter failure that left the station silent. Donations were solicited to help cover the cost of a new transmitter, and the station returned to the air Mar. 11. Board members discussed plans for meeting the ongoing expenses associated with operating the station.
The idea of a fund-raising variety musical event was adopted, and the program is in the planning stage. Several board members are working on the project, including Rev. Duane Partin, who was elected to the board at the Mar. 3 meeting.
